ABOUT ME

I am an artist, illustrator and ceramic designer with a BA in Ceramic Design from LSAD (2016). My work is primarily concerned with the aesthetic appeal of movement. It is a feature in my illus-

trations, birds in flight, dancers, divers in motion – these capture joy and performance on the static ceramic surface. Illustration is at the core of my practice and the ceramic forms provide the canvas to create a new narrative. Surface decoration techniques are enhanced by unique decal transfers. My love of illustration led me to ceramics and the many possibilities of printing techniques on clay. My experience as a graphic designer cemented the formation and development of the work.

I am excited to participate in the iAtelier programme. It’s a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with a digital design professional. My studio work involves mould making and slip casting. I will use the opportunity to explore creating new models in 3D print. If successful the model could be slip cast to produce multi-part ceramic installations. Although ceramic is a static form, I would like to create a ‘flow’ between each part to create the illusion of movement, and a linkage between the different pieces to effect an integrated storyline with strong impact.

I am a member of Ceramics Ireland (CI) and VAI. I am a recipient of the International Arts & Crafts Design Award (2019), winner of DCCoI Future Makers Awards (2017 & 2018) and a Merit Award from TCD Book of Kells Creative Competition. I received the Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Award (2020). My work has been purchased by LIT (Purchase Award 2016) and the OPW (2018). My commissions include University Hospital Limerick (2019), LIT (2019) and Clare Arts & Creative Ireland (2020).
