MEET THE MAKER
Independent designer based in Amsterdam, with a strong interest in generative design and kinetic typography. In addition to his design practice, he taught typography at the Saturday course of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and typography at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem.
Project
Daniel Maarleveld and Martine van ‘t Hul have investigated the handwriting of the embroidery machine. Combining Martine’s knowledge of embroidery traditions and Daniel’s knowledge of algorithms, they developed a typeface that translates traditional embroidery letters to the logic of the embroidery machine.
Value iAtelier
Collaboration with another discipline enlarges the world, broadens outlook. Taking each other into account has a stimulating effect. New ideas emerge. We would never have met each other without the matchmaking of Crafts Council Netherlands.
