MEET THE MAKER
I have experience in ancient printing techniques, with these I began to experiment with the first intelligent materials and to produce printed circuits for interactive maps. I would very much like to work with artisanal techniques from the Italian tradition. For the creation of the clothes with wearable technologies I worked in a team with a fashion craftsman who dealt with digital printing. I have studied with product designers and soil experts on my travels. I would like to start new collaborations with artisans to create interactions between ancient objects and the history they possess.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TAKE PART IN iATELIER ONLINE PROGRAMME?
I wish I could build spaces inhabited by animated objects or animate spaces with the interactions that come out of them. I would like to put technology out of a technocratic framework and use it as an object to make ancient objects or forms more understandable to future needs.
I expect to have a new vision of how technology and hardware can be used, I would like to make pieces that have a vision of the future, of sustainability but also of adaptation. And then understand which aspects of the past to preserve and which to forget. I expect an exchange of practices but at the same time I expect people who come from an artisan path to be amazed at the use of technology. I believe that in Italian craftsmanship there is a great tradition that needs to communicate with modernity and start new creations.

Light gives emotion, perception, atmosphere.
Light creates space and environment, Light creates art.
The idea of SERPENTINE PANELS comes from our desire to amplify the sensorial tactile experience of the surfaces created by Alice, with another visual and emotional aspect: the luminescence. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, thanks to which some living organisms manage to emit light through chemical reactions. To emulate this fascinating process, we thought about using photoluminescent paints. The color will refer to a “cold light” with variations from blue to green; there painting will be applied on the writings, on the braille text and on the embossed decorations. The project consists of a series of panels, with different shapes, modular and combinable with each other with magnets. The collection consists of three elements in laminated wood: One linear panel, one curved, and one articulated. The articulated element, thanks to the engraving on both sides, will be extremely flexible to generate curvilinear waves with radius relatively tight. Our goal is to give shape to a sensory imaginary, inable to accommodate new functions, new micro architectures in a contract hotel and residential, in the uniqueness of each artifact.
The project is realized with the artisan Alice Corbetta.
