MEET THE MAKER

I am a Murano glass jewelry maker, I use lampwork and glass fusion technique. What characterizes my works is the search for exclusivity, constantly offering my clients unique pieces made sometimes even with their participation. The initial phase, concerning all the bureaucratic formalities, was followed by the research of the sales channels. As a first step, I chose to acquire a street vendor’s license to propose my works at trade fairs and perform demonstrations (on-site processing). This gave me the opportunity to get in touch with my first international client with whom I still work. In the next three years I would like to open my e-commerce and be more active on social networks.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TAKE PART OF CRAFTING BUSINESS PROGRAMME?

To fill my gaps regarding the more contemporary aspects of business: online commerce, social communication, to expand the possibilities of sales on different channels and platforms and to participate in the most important and international trade fairs.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?

The participation was very informative and useful to know the tools to improve one’s work and make it grow towards more professional perspectives. My impressions of the Crafting Business course can only be excellent. My idea about the dissemination of my works through social media has certainly changed, now I know that it is essential to give a more contemporary twist to my approach to communication.

FIVE THINGS YOU’LL BRING WITH YOU FROM THE EXPERIENCE:

• Understanding who I am and what I do, communicate it in a clearer and simpler way, review and improve the corporate image / identity.
• Open my work to B2B trade and possible collaboration with designers and other expert craftsmen in fields other than mine but potentially compatible, thus creating synergies between different professionals.
• Knowing and understanding that even micro enterprises like mine can participate in tenders that can help start new projects or consolidate old ones.
• Having understood the fundamental importance that communication on social media has today to promote one’s work.
• The possibility of opening towards internationalization even for small artisan businesses, especially if they are part of collaborations in teams of different professionals who deal with all the different aspects of a project.
