MEET THE MAKER
I’m Keti an art critic by education, Self-taught artist and the founder of “Lampino”, the brand of original handmade lamps.
Lampino has been around for two years now and many different lamps were created during this time, A particularly favorite project for me is the old Tbilisi themed lamps, it’s a revival of old Tbilisi architecture in my works. I follow this line today and I already have many ideas waiting to be implemented. When I create s lamp my goal isn’t only to create a decorative item but something valuable for the Georgian culture and prolong the life of those details.
I work on Lampino products completely alone at this stage, the process starts with thinking about the design, and often I even have trouble sleeping. The emotional moment is when the idea is already mature in the mind and ready to meet reality. Then it starts physical work, working in the program, fabricating material and processing it, priming, painting, decorating, functional arrangement, even packaging is done by me. I use many types of materials to create the work, be it wood, decorative cement, metal, textiles, different types of paints or electrical wiring, and the necessary details. It is very time-consuming and long work but the result is always emotional and pleasant, especially the energy received from the customer.
So my, knowledge, and a special love for old Tbilisi and Georgian architecture, in general, help me to implement ideas correctly. What I like, love, and evoke special emotions in me translates into works that don’t go unnoticed by the naked eye, the feeling of coziness that each pattern carries is contagious and this is the most enjoyable thing I can do in the process of working
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TAKE PART OF CRAFTING BUSINESS PROGRAMME?
As I mentioned, Lampino has been around for almost two years and it was time to move on to a new stage, but I did not know how to do it.
By chance, I heard about the program from a friend and realized that it was the best chance for me to develop my business, and of course, the result was not long in coming.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?
Within the project I got a lot of important knowledge, advice and information on how to develop an existing business and I am also working on a new idea and business plan and most importantly I met a lot of interesting people from both participants and organizers.
The most interesting thing was to realize that it was unbelievable for me as an artist to study business and marketing and I thought it was very boring but with the help of lecturers this process was suddenly interesting.
The project has had a special impact on me, I am much more confident and confident in the success of my business.
