MEET THE MAKER
I am Jack Durling and I am a Brighton based ceramic artist who creates sculptural pieces that depict animals effected by conservational issues in our world today. I have been based at my studio in Rosehill Workshop since 2015, I run workshops and stock my work in galleries as well as participate in well-known shows annually.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?
I have learnt that through pushing my USP’s and rebranding my shop with this message it has helped with sales via my website shop. Over the past six months I have learnt that I generally speak better in terms of giving a presentation, when I do not script myself. And more importantly that I can do it. Ive identified that when I have to many notes they slow down, cause me to stumble in my delivery. Bullet points for example help to act as a reminder of things to elaborate from. Not word to word.
I have recognised the restructuring of my studio space at my workshop has positively affected my business. In terms of having the space to run my business with more ease. My income sources this year have changed. I haven’t been able to do any shows in person. Digital based shows, and rebranding my website shop and stocking ceramic work on there has led to direct sales. I have identified that I have work that appeals to different audiences, affordability… For example my smaller, lower end work sells more easily.
