MEET THE MAKER
I was born in Dublin but now live in north Leitrim. I trained in Environmental/ Spatial Design at the DIT Dublin and Aalto University Helsinki. I work in and around furniture and lighting with some diversions into large scale art works using mainly digital tools and processes. My workshop houses an 8×4 flat bed CNC, laser cutter, 3D printers, vinyl cutter along with all the traditional tools, working mostly in flat sheet materials to create 3 dimension objects derived from 2 and 3D models created on a range of software packages. Ideas and inspiration come from a range of sources however function and geometry are the core influencers. We recently launched a new online shop selling a small collection of products available worldwide however we continue to work on custom design and build projects for our diverse range of clients.
My skills include: software skills such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Inkscape, Solidworks, FreeCAD, TinkerCAD, Cura, Sketch-Up, Computer Aided Design – AutoCAD / CAM (Related manufacturing processes), Vcarve, Media Players (RealPlayer, Quick Time, DivX etc) plus many standard software packages, e.g. Power Point, Microsoft Word/ Excel, Audacity etc. Lighting design, installation and electrical assembly Furniture & Product design, construction, manufacturing etc. Cabinet Making – Woodworking, Metalwork, Plastics, Glass plus hands-on experience with most common materials.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TAKE PART OF iATELIER PROGRAMME?
The iAtelier program is a great opportunity to collaborate with other designers and craftspeople interested in the digital fabrication and hopefully produce some interesting new work.
