MEET THE MAKER

Kizikian rugs are special and distinguished among Caucasian rugs due to their artistic value, performance technique and distinctive aesthetics. They carry important information. Ancient cultural tradition of the creator ethnos, the way of life, the entrepreneurial habit and the attitude towards the environment can be seen in the colors of the fabric and technique of making the ornaments. Workshop “PESVEBI”, which was established in 2006 continues this tradition. First as an initiative group and since 2011 Ltd. “PESVEBI”. The studio is located in Dedoplistskaro and employs 8 local women. One of them is a disabled person. The studio has 15 years of experience in the restoration and development of traditional Georgian rugs. The products created here are distinguished by density of weaving, the color and high artistic level of the composition of the ornaments. The workshop is the only one in Georgia, which has considerable experience in dyeing with natural dyes. Based on ethnographic material, we conduct experiments with dyes that are no longer used. Success in this field is important because the traditional colors significantly contributes to the high quality of the work, which has repeatedly been admired by experts at various exhibitions. We have received the certificate as the best handicraft product in the Transcaucasia. We have participated in Georgia as well as in many international exhibitions.  We use the same technology to create accessories and bags.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TAKE PART OF CRAFTING BUSINESS PROGRAMME?

This project encourages me to master and improve the technologies of brand strategy planning, business product promotion and marketing management processes.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?

The theoretical knowledge gained during this project will significantly help us to develop our business. The trainings conducted by high level trainers have developed many necessary skills, which are the most important in my work.
