MEET THE MAKER
Hello I’m Sarah, an artist based in South London. Since graduating in 2020 from a postgraduate diploma in Jewellery and Hollowware at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich, I have set up my studio in London where I continue my practice today. After studying Fine Art at university, I wanted to explore further the role of craft in art, which led me to making jewellery, objects and sculpture. I currently mainly work with non-precious stones which I source from the landscape of the Jurassic coast where I grew up. Through the physicality of stone carving, thoughts around personal identity, belonging and our place as humans in the story of the natural world, find their form.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEEDBACKS?
For me, Crafting Business has been such an eye-opening experience that has given me invaluable tools to create a thriving creative practice. During the last 4 months I have been able to incorporate skills such as financial planning, speaking and writing about my work and applying for grants to create a personal business plan which sets out my goals for the next year. I feel as though I am well equipped to navigate myself to the place I want to be with my practice, which is to be able to make a living from selling my work whilst continuing to show my work in exciting dialogues with other artists and makers.
