MEET THE MAKER
V.M. Preziosi is a jewellery workshop and a design studio, with adjoining showroom, based in the central zone of Florence. It was founded in 1989 by Valerio Salvadori and Marco Frangini, who have been able to put together the expertise of the Florentine goldsmith tradition and the experimentation of innovative techniques with enthusiasm and competence. The V.M. Preziosi Firenze has been awarded several prized, among which we can recall the “Vespucci Prize – Design section”, organized by the Tuscany Region in 2007. In April 2007, the “Anello Redó” jewel, made by Salvadori and Frangini, became part of the permanent collection of the Contemporary Jewel at the Silver Museum of Pitti Palace, in Florence. Valerio Salvadori and Marco Frangini have presented their collection in various nation and international exhibitions, including the International Handicraft Exhibition in Florence.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TAKE PART IN iATELIER ONLINE PROGRAMME?
Any type of project that can be a professional enrichment is always welcome. In our job, as in other, we always need to keep up with the times and the technologies without forgetting about the great background of our past tradition.
I expect to have the opportunity to work with creative people to elaborate new products thanks to innovative techniques and solutions in the making and to try to establish a dialogue between new and traditional technologies in our work, using different materials compared to the typical ones. We have always had the same modus operandi since we opened our workshop in 1989.
WHAT IS YOUR FEEDBACK?
The highlight of the course was the collaborative design approach. The “Expert Talks” were useful sources of inspiration for the activity: they were really exhaustive and challenging. The iAtelier online project stimulated an ongoing collaboration with several professional figures.
