Artex presents “Geographical Indications for crafts”, a new meeting with the Webinar dell’Innovazione (Innovation Webinars) on the new European Regulation on geographical indications for crafts and industry, and on the steps Italy is taking to adapt the regulations. It will be a free virtual meeting to reflect on new trends and the impact these new developments have on the artistic craftsmanship sector in Italy.

Speakers will include Octavio Monge Gonzalvo, representative of EUIPO, the European Union Intellectual Property Office in charge of managing EU trademarks, designs and models, as well as the regulation of non-agricultural GIs; and Antonio Lirosi, General Director for Industrial Property – Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy.
What does European legislation entail for geographical indications of craft products?
What are the main obstacles and potentialities of the implementation of this regulation for Italian craft products?
What is the role of enterprises in this phase?
The meetings will be held in Italian and are addressed to artisans and stakeholders operating in the artistic craft sector, with the aim of stimulating discussion and reflection on current macro-issues, and how these fit into business strategy.
Webinar dell’Innovazione are intended to be a forum for dialogue on topics related to innovation and technology, which are often perceived as being distant from daily occupations and activities, but which can be a springboard if appropriately declined in the service of the craft business. The meeting on 13 June is part of the Ceramic Futures cycle of online seminars, an action of the Horizon Europe Tracks 4 Crafts project, funded by the European Union and led by the University of Antwerp, which includes a partnership of 15 organisations from all over Europe.
