From 24 November 2024 to 16 February 2025, a landmark exhibition showcasing some of the top artisans in contemporary applied arts will take place at the Anciens Abattoirs in Mons. The sixth edition of the Prize will present approximately one hundred works made by 58 artists from 16 European countries. Thanks to the support of the European Crafts Alliance and the Ministry of Culture of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, two prizewinners will each receive 3.500€.
The exhibition’s main goal is to highlight some of Europe’s finest crafts, presenting a wide variety of techniques that meet the highest aesthetic standards. Featured works will include ceramics, glass, metal, wood and paper crafts, along with contemporary jewelry. Alongside the craftsmanship required, the modernity of these pieces plays a key role. Today’s craftspeople push beyond traditional boundaries, incorporating innovative materials and techniques to create an art form that bridges the ancient and the avant-garde, blending established norms with bold experimentation.
In recognition of artisanal excellence, BeCraft has introduced a new name for this event: MAESTRIA.
