The New Courses of Fondazione Opificio 2025

Fondazione Opificio 2025 – Advanced Training Courses for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage is a project for advanced learning in the conservation and management of cultural heritage, conceived by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure.

Starting on May 17, 2025, the training program will be led by experts from the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and international lecturers. It is designed to offer updates and further education to professionals working in the field, with a broad and interdisciplinary perspective. This year’s topics range from conservation methodologies to innovative restoration materials, from advanced diagnostic technologies to emergency planning, and include managerial and legal aspects—drawing on the Opificio’s extensive experience in restoration and research.

The FOP 2025 program includes a series of 4 seminars and 3 workshops, structured into one or two modules, which will be held both in person and online, with options to attend live or on demand. In-person activities will take place at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure locations (Fortezza da Basso).

Below is the full 2025 activity program:

• May 17 & 23, 2025 – Workshop: Managing the emergency: paintings, wooden sculptures, and textile artifacts. Tools and methods for recovery and safety measures

• May 31 & June 7, 2025 – Course: Introduction to non-invasive investigation techniques for artwork analysis

• September 13, 2025 – Course: The maintenance and display of textile artifacts

• September 27, 2025 – Workshop: Managing the emergency: archives and libraries

• October 6–8, 2025 – Workshop: Mist-Lining Workshop | Florence Edition 2025

• November 8, 2025 – Course: The protection of the integrity of contemporary artworks and the restorer’s responsibility

• November 22 & 29, 2025 – Course: Managing the emergency: strategies for risk prevention and response.
